We work with the villagers themselves to tailor solutions for both immediate and long-term benefit. We know there is no single magic bullet that will make all the problems of the area fall away. The people in these villages know that too and, with our help, are working with us to make their lives much, much better.

Take Gyetiase, for example. In just one year, we have brought the village clean drinking water, training in health, hygiene and the construction of latrines, medical help and a woodcarving school. The village still needs our help but will be independent soon. We've already begun to work with neighbouring villages.

Our team is a 100% volunteer force with expertise in water engineering, Ashanti culture, business and fund-raising. Every penny we raise goes toward funding these programmes - and only where necessary. The villagers themselves are an integral part of the success of these programmes, from doing much of the manual work to planning their own skills training.
